by Jonathan Cheah (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Bangkok, Thailand, 02 March 2005 – Last month, Samsung Malaysia Electronics had its ambassador, Siti Nurhaliza, sign ‘lots of love, Siti Nurhaliza’ on the Samsung MTV Asia Award Special Version SGH-E630C mobile phone in sizzling red.
Other phones have been signed by Hoobastank, Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson, and an online bidding campaign will take place on www.samsungmobile.com.my. All proceeds from the bidding will go towards non-profit organizations in the region.
Samsung also invites the public to donate through the Samsung Fun Club website or via SMS. The charity drive will be held in conjunction with MTV Asia Aid, a benefit concert that was held on February 3 2005.
“Even as Samsung is responding to the tsunami relief efforts through donations of over US$ 3 million and a team of 10,000 employee volunteers, the company has not forgotten its commitment to improve the lives of the greater community in South East Asia,†said Mr Sang-Jin Park, Regional CEO and President of Samsung Asia. “The amount we hope to raise through Samsung Heart Links will go a long way in empowering the non-profit organizations to enable them to continue benefiting the community and less fortunate youths.â€Â
Samsung has collaborated with popular artistes to develop a unique fund-raising tool – the MTV Asia Award Special Version SGH-E630C mobile phones in Valentine-Red to be autographed and auctioned after the MTV event.
Samsung Heart Links will benefit the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (Singapore); SOS Foundation for orphans (Thailand); the tsunami victims in Indonesia through UNICEF, Bantay Bata 163 for abused children (Philippines); and Lion’s Cyber Care for orphans (Malaysia).
