RAUB, Jan 23 (Bernama) — Malaysia’s pop diva Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin today brought cheer to 52 villagers of Kampung Kuala Semantan here who have been spending the nights at a flood relief centre over the past three days.
Siti Nurhaliza through Yayasan Nurjiwa jointly set up with her husband Datuk Khalid Mohamad Jiwa offered relief aid in the form of foodstuff and clothing to 15 families sheltered at the centre.
She said the experience in helping flood victims in Johor earlier prompted her to continue providing aid to flood evacuees in other places.
“I and my husband actually planned to go to Pahang because I know Rompin district has been hit by floods but when we came to know Raub and Lipis have been inundated by floodwaters, we changed our plan and came here first,” she told reporters when met with her husband at Kampung Kuala Semantan mosque.
Siti hoped their contributions would help lighten the evacuees’ burden.
