Eight To Compete In RTM’s “Idola Patriotik” Contest
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) — Eight young Malaysians will take part in the final of RTM’s patriotic singing contest, “Idola Patriotik 2007″, to be telecast live from Angkasapuri at 8.30pm on Friday.
Broadcasting deputy director-general (Programmes) Datuk Adilah Shek Omar said the contest was organised to provide a platform for young people to foster love for the country by singing patriotic songs.
“It is also to add joy and merriment to the country’s 50th independence celebration as well as instil patriotism among the young generation,” she told reporters here today.
“The patriotic spirit can be nurtured through songs where understanding of the songs can instil love for the country,” she added.
The eight finalists are Zalina Kassim, 25, Emil Hamlyn ak Paul Diring, 28, Muhaimin Azzahan, 20, Rosmawati Mat Dali, 28, Syaifana Muhamed Subri, 21, Ahmad Falah Ahmad Bassim, 22, Fadzirul Nidzam Ishak, 27, and Farah Nabilla Noor Anuar, 27.
The “Idola Patriotik 2007″ singing contest received encouraging response with more than 1,000 participants nationwide with 26 selected for the semi-final.
Besides a trophy and certificate each for the winners, the first prize winner will receive RM10,000, the runner-up RM5,000 and the third placed RM3,000. There will also be consolation prizes of RM500 each.
Deputy Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will give away the prizes.
The audience will also be entertained by artistes like Izwan Pilus, Azharina Azhar, Victor Lee, Banumitha, Siti Sarah, Nora and a special appearance by Datuk Siti Nurhaliza.

Over 7,000 Attend Suara Hati Sudirman Concert
SHAH ALAM, April 1 (Bernama) — Over 7,000 people, many were fans of legendary entertainer the late Sudirman Haji Arshad, filled the Malawati Stadium here for the Suara Hati Sudirman concert Sunday night.
The concert, hosted by the Information Ministry, featured popular and promising artistes including Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Ramli Sarip, Saleem, Ning Baizura, Misha Omar and Liza Hanim.
They rendered songs made popular by Sudirman like “Terasing”, “Merisik Khabar”, “Salam Terakhir” and “Milik Siapakah Gadis Ini”, and the crowd joined in. The concert was carried live by RTM1.
Sudirman died on Feb 22, 1992 at the age of 37.
Present at the two-hour concert that began at 8.30pm included Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin, his deputy Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Bernama General Manager Datuk Azman Ujang.

Free Sudirman Concert Featuring Siti Nurhaliza, Mawi In Shah Alam
KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) — Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will stage a “Suara Hati Sudirman” concert featuring popular artistes including Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Mawi, Misha Omar and Jaclyn Victor on April 1.
The event, to be held at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam from 8.30pm to 10.30pm, was in recognition of the contributions of the legendary entertainer, said Parliamentary Secretary to the Information Ministry Noriah Kasnon.
She told reporters at Angkasapuri today that free tickets to the concert could be obtained from Angkasapuri and RTM Selangor.
The concert would also be aired live by RTM1 and Radio Klasik FM, she said.
She said the concert was in conjunction with RTM’s 61th anniversary, the country’s 50 years of independence and in memory of Sudirman who rose to stardom through the Bintang RTM 1976 programme and died 15 years ago.
Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo are expected to attend the concert.
